The Mother of All Excuses: Becoming a Mother

Remember all those posts where I complained about being pregnant?  Turns out that situation resulted in a beautiful baby girl.  My sweet Jane Carroll was born on January 27 at 7:26am.  Though I read during a few hours of contractions at home, I’ve barely had a moment to brush my hair since she got here.  I think she is distracting me on purpose to hold her reign as Best Hair in the family – as if I am any competition.

The only reading I have done since her arrival is from The Baby Book which points out to me on a daily basis that I do everything wrong, and everything is my fault.  I believe I pointed that fact out to my mom when I was 13 without her having to read anything – I’m sure Jane will do the same for me in 13 years or so.

So bear with me loyal readers.  Once I master bathing on a daily basis I might just be able to pick up a hobby or two again - and once I do I will snidely tell you about all of it.

Happy new family thanks to healthy baby girl.
And painkillers.
Jane insists on wearing pink hat throughout hospital stay.
She refrained from comment on my fashion choices during this period, thankfully.
Jane tolerates morning photo.
Barely tolerates frog.

  1. Such a beautiful baby makes everything worthwhile, doesn't it? I'm sure you'll soon get into the swing of things but meanwhile who cares? Just enjoy being a new mom and love her to pieces.
